Pathé has put its entire archive of newsreel footage online (according to a BBC report), at www.britishpathe.com; it appears to be quite a remarkable historical resource. Searching for terms such as 'cathedral choir' brings up some very interesting historical clips which can be viewed at no charge (there is a fee to download higher quality videos).

The new academic year starts on Monday 9 Septmber for the Cathedral Choir, and the new music list is now available on line. Evensongs on Monday to Friday of the first week will be sung by the Lay Vicars Choral, with the exception of Wednesday 11 September when the full choir will be singing at an Evensong in the Cathedral to commemorate last year's terrorist attacks in America. Evensong on Sunday 15 September (3.30pm) will include the admission and installation of new choristers and the new organists into the Choral Foundation. On Sunday 22 September, the Eucharist (10.30am) is to commemorate Dr Samuel Johnson, and the music includes William Harris's (former assistant organist of Lichfield) setting of Johnson's last prayer: Almighty and most merciful Father. The annual reunion for the former choristers takes place on Saturday 28 September, and the 'Spinney' hymn will be sung during Evensong (5.30pm) as usual.

The site has been updated to reflect the annual changes to the Choral Foundation, and also this year's new Organist, Philip Scriven, and his assistant, Alex Mason. New photographs of the choir, former choral scholars, and former organists (to accompany their biographies) have also been added. The discography now contains images of all the record sleeves with a single exception. On a technical note, the XHTML and CSS used throughout the site has been successfully validated by the W3C, and the title page displays the relevant icons to show this.
