The new music list covering Christmas and the start of next year is now available online.
All that remains to do this year is to thank all of our visitors for their continued interest and support of the site, and to wish everyone a very happy christmas and prosperous new year.

An advert for next academic year's three choral scholars has appeared in today's Church Times. The application closing date is Friday 7 January.

Two new CDs, one of the Cathedral Choir singing music for Advent and Christmas called Angels Rejoice!, and one of Philip Scriven playing the Cathedral organ called Piping Hot were recorded earlier this year and have now been released. The discography has been updated to include cover images and complete track listings.

The latest music list is now available online and includes several carol services in anticipation of Christmas. After the Cathedral Choir's first Christmas Cracker last year, they are doing a similar recital on Friday 10 December this year, and the choristers are also singing in A Family Festival of Carols, and The Chairman of Lichfield District Council's Carol Service. The list also sees some new music including Lassus's setting of words from the 23rd chapter of Joshua, Confortamini et iam, sung by the Vicars Choral, Grayston Ives's setting of This is the record of John, and Phillip Moore's Third Evening Service.
On Saturday 20 November, the Lichfield Cathedral Chamber Choir are giving a concert to celebrate their 25th Anniversary for which two former directors of the choir (who were also Assistant Organists of the Cathedral), Peter King and Mark Shepherd, are returning as guest conductors.

The new music list is now available online and includes a Sung Eucharist and Farewell to the Dean, Michael Yorke, and his wife on 31 October, the day of his retirement. Paul Spicer has written a new anthem, At that time Michael, the great prince, shall arise, which will be performed during the service.

The latest music list has gone online and includes a Sung Eucharist with String Orchestra on Sunday 26 September to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Dean's ordination; it takes the choir through to the half term vacation.

Sir Stanley Clarke who, amongst many other roles, was the chairman of trustees for the Cathedral Music campaign died early on Sunday morning. The Daily Telegraph provides an obituary in today's edition.

In a long overdue update, the pages detailing the individual holders of the Lay Vicar and Priest Vicar stalls now list the names going back to the start of the nineteenth century.

The new music list is now available online which covers the first three weeks of the new academic year. New choristers and a Lay Vicar are being admitted to the choir on Saturday 11 September, and Evensong on Friday 17 September is in memory of Percy Young who died earlier this year. Saturday 25 September sees former choristers joining the choir for Evensong as part of their annual reunion.
The personnel listings have been updated to reflect the members of the choir over the next academic year.

The new music list is now available online covering the visiting choirs' services through August. The Sunday Herald reports on a film called Les Choristes which came out in France last month that has revived an interest in choral music and increased applications to choirs.

At then end of June the Cathedral Choir finished a recording of christmas music for a double CD to be released later this year. The new music list is now available online and includes details of the services during the Lichfield Festival. The choristers are also giving a concert on Saturday 17 July at 2.30pm at St Andrew's Church in Clifton Campville as part of the Festival.

An advert for an Alto (Counter-Tenor) Choral Scholar, and Alto (Counter-Tenor) and Tenor Lay Vicars Choral to start in September 2004 has appeared in this week's Church Times. The closing date for applications is 22 May, and the audition date is 29 May.

The new music list is now available online and includes Elgar's Great is the Lord (31 January) and Britten's Antiphon (8 February). On the 14 February at 7.30pm the choir is joined by James Bowman for 'A Recital of Music for Valentine's Day'.
The Cathedral Chamber Choir has recently released a new CD entitled In Every Corner Sing! containing a selection of popular sacred music which includes Andrew Lumsden's arrangement of Now the green blade riseth. The CD is available from the Cathedral Bookshop (01543 306150).
