Forthcoming Chorister Experience Day on Saturday, 5 November Open to all boys between the ages of 6-9 years, the Chorister Experience Day will allow the boys, and their families, the chance to experience the life of a Cathedral Chorister. They will hear about the choristers' daily routine; radio and TV broadcasts; concerts; recordings and tours and have the opportunity to ask all the questions they've ever wanted answered about life as a chorister.
They will also be able to enjoy some of the other activities and games enjoyed by the choristers, have a tour of the Cathedral, rehearse with the choristers and even sing with the choir during Evensong.
Philip Scriven, the cathedral's organist and director of music, said, "we are particularly trying to reach families who have children who enjoy singing but who are nervous about choristerships. Choristers are ordinary boys from ordinary homes who happen to show musical potential. We hope that the day provides the opportunity for families to see for themselves that choristership is accessible, open to all and that it is a wonderful experience for children and parents alike."
All choristers receive choral scholarships and are educated at Lichfield Cathedral School and there will also be the chance to have a guided tour of the school on the day.
Any boy aged 6-9 years who would like to attend the Chorister Experience Day is welcome. For further details and an application form, please telephone 01543 306178 or visit www.lichfieldcathedralschool.com
